HOW TO BE HAPPY

Happiness is not Rocket Science. Really!
Especially with the right approach.


One of the purposes of this website and my approach is to convey and promote the message that there are clear and straightforward methods for self understanding and self work. Inherent in this message is that personal development with the goal of becoming happier on all levels is not Rocket Science. That my job is to give you a map of your insides with operating instructions which will make it much simpler to figure yourself out and work with yourself so that you can grow and develop towards these ends.  Good stuff really.

The mapping tool for understanding yourself is based on the idea that you are not a single self but a symphony of selves. Inside of any one person there are different parts or selves.  And using a wonderfully elegant theory of personality called Transactional Analysis, these internal parts can be clearly identified and known. 

The operating instructions of my approach helps you to understand why you are the way you are;why you feel, think and behave the way you do.  These operating instructions are comprehensive and understandable.  They cover the gamut of positive and not so positive aspects of your personality. 

This map and operating instructions can then help you know yourself, know why you are the way you are, and know what to do when you want to make positive changes in the way you feel, think and behave. 

Which is the goal. To grow along personal and spiritual lines.  And the benefits are hugely wonderful. Basically you can feel better and be better.

Being self knowledgeable and self masterful has many important benefits such as:

› Increased confidence, security and serenity
› Increased capacity for personal and professional success
› Increased connectedness and spiritual clarity
› Increased capacity for selflessness and generosity
› Increased interest/thirst for self knowledge and more personal and
   spiritual growth
› Increased ease, effectiveness, and satisfaction in interacting with loved    ones.

The goal of my approach is to make knowing yourself much easier so that looking inside and working with yourself becomes more appealing--more second nature than strange.  The objective is to not have yourself as a stranger and to become intimate with yourself;self fluent and self masterful.
And as you become masterful with yourself you can become happier. 


The Operating Instructions
There are 4 clearly identifiable internal things that one can work with to increase ones happiness.

The four areas are:
1. Feeling and Emotions and how they are experienced, processed and expressed.

2. Emotional Needs that all humans have, and how met they are, and what we do about their unmetness.

3. Internal Programming, primarily from our past, and how it influences how we feel about ourselves, life and others; how we behave in conscious and unconscious ways; how we believe about ourselves, life and others.

4. How our capacity to be powerful and active and our capacity to be receptive and emotional is configured and balanced.


So I believe psychotherapy, in one way or another ought to address these areas. And I do in my practice and it shows in my work with Individuals and Couples, Families and in our Group work.
